Aschley is a tireless advocate for shelter dogs, especially breeds like the American Pit Bull Terrier. She is the proud parent of 4 rescued pets, has volunteered with countless animal welfare organizations and owns a local dog walking company called Out-U-Go!. Aschley and her pit bull, Berkeley, volunteer with NAHS as a certified dog team for Paws for Tales, a program for kids 5 and up who have been identified as having reading and emotional difficulties. Kids read stories to the dogs in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. The social worker at their school says no students are absent on days Berkeley visits and student behavior improves. “To see the magic that happens between Berkeley and the students will bring tears to your eyes.” The best way I could think of to thank Aschley for her hard work as a volunteer and ambassador for a misunderstood breed was to nominate her in the LOVEbug3 contest. Voting for Aschley is a vote for shelter dogs and the families who love them.
